The Extra Mile...

Out of the Office ltd was set up in 2006 by Debbie Smith. Debbie worked at a large events agency in London since graduating in 2000, learning events from the ground up, to managing large scale events. Using suppliers in the industry on many of the events she managed, Debbie felt the industry lacked good suppliers with a passion for inspiring events. She felt it was necessary to have engaging, themed events run by fun, professional and inspiring staff. Supported by her employer, whom Out of the Office still supply 9 years later, Debbie made it her passion to build a dynamic team of staff, design and produce high quality, visual team-building equipment, and create fun events with team-building benefit.

Out of the Office has grown hugely in 9 years. We now have 2 offices with teams covering the whole of the U.K and employ over 15 staff, who are all proud to be part of the big Out of the Office family. We are now providing over 300 events a year for an array of blue-chip clients, including Tesco, o2, BskyB, KPMG, Google and HSBC and work with the best venues in the U.K. Staff are always recruited based on their passion for events and the desire to create the very best experience possible for our clients. Debbie inspires her team to be professional yet fun and always love what they do. We genuinely love our events, which is why our clients do too!

Debbie Smith

Managing Director

Bournemouth Office

I’ve been in the events industry for 12 years and I love it because it incorporates all that I enjoy.  I love people and being social, I have a keen eye for detail and I enjoy making sure people (especially those who don't think they will), have an incredible time.  I enjoy the creativity and lack of boundaries involved in putting on unique experiences and blowing people's expectations out of the water!

Talking of which….my favourite events are the Wet and Wild ones!!  I love It’s a Knock Out or Totally Wiped Out, anything with loads of big inflatables, water and music pumping.  They are so much fun.

I have two little girls and they are my world.  I am also in to my gym and fitness and have recently signed up to a Dirty Dozen 12k and we are doing the Bournemouth Bay 10k run together as an office.  I love walks on the beach and picnics with my hubby, kids and awesome little cockapoo Bear!  An occupational hazard is I'm very social and love nothing more than a good party.  As I'm in the industry, no one expects a small party from me either, so generally it's a big affair with fancy dress!

I've been working for Out The Office for 5 years now, and I've enjoyed every minute (well, apart from Scotland in February in the snow!)
I love events because I enjoy meeting new and interesting people across the country and helping them enjoy and get the most out of their away days.
Wolves of Wall Street is my favourite event because I like the energy and buzz this event creates. Also, because I designed and built the whole Wolves of Wall Street trading system from scratch (I love excel and have a mug to prove it). It gets so competitive and loud! Of course, with running the stag and hen side I have to say I also love the Stag and Hen Olympics on a Saturday. I've seen some green faces on the assault course!
I spend my days off playing golf, spending time with the family and watching football.

Dan Solen

Head of Events

Bournemouth Office

I have been in the events industry for 10 years doing a mixture of festivals and corporate events. My favourite event is The Apprentice as I love firing people and ripping people apart in the boardroom; I love the power!

I love the events industry as every day is different. I enjoy meeting new people and the buzz of doing an amazing job! I like the fact we do everything from the first enquiry, putting together the entire event and then bossing the delivery on the day. You always know you've smashed it when you get a hug from the organiser.

In my spare time I love to play golf, football and tennis. I like beating Stuart at anything and everything as well as generally being funny and intelligent (and shy). Time off, not that I have a lot with my little man and the Mrs, I enjoy drinking gin & tonics, eating meat and being in the shade!

I’ve been rocking the events industry for more than 11 years now.  My favourite event is without doubt the Crystal Challenge!  It’s our flagship event and I enjoy being part of a day that will undoubtedly turn into one of the best days of our delegates entire lives!  Passion, competitiveness and an extreme sense of accomplishment are all side effects for all who are involved!  Hobbies, I love adventure.  In my spare time I like to explore the coast and countryside and travel the world.  I also enjoy lazy days on the beach with friends and family.

I don’t just love any events; I love FANTASTIC events which is why I work for the company that I do. It’s a great feeling when weeks of preparation come together in such an awesome way, and you can really appreciate the fruits of your labour!

I have worked for Out Of The Office Ltd for 10 years and the Crystal Maze is my best event. I enjoy seeing groups get thoroughly involved in the tasks and our crystal dome is awesome and everybody just loves it! There is something for everyone, whatever their ag, fitness level or interests and it is the best Crystal Maze setup in the U.K.

I love my job because it’s is so varied, I can be doing different things every day. It's crazy the things we experience on this job, from snakes and spiders and eating bugs on an I'm a Celebrity event to 500 people in Hyde Park doing a huge Crystal Maze event. I must admit I do enjoy all the health and safety side of things, someone has to!

In my spare time I love spending time with the family, shopping, reality TV and nights out without the kids as well!

(Although did my time up North!)

I've been working in events for almost 5 years now. My favourite events are themed party nights! I love dressing the room and seeing the transformation from a bog standard function room to a stunning venue! Seeing the reaction of the guests as they arrive is priceless.

I love the events industry because it is so much fun! It's an unusual job where I get to make the most of my creative side (I'm often ridiculed in the office for getting far too excited about the little details). I deal with a lot of the visuals on the events and love how much attention to detail can transform an event. I also enjoy seeing all of the weird and wonderful venues we have the pleasure of working with.

In my spare time I enjoy eating, spending time with Dan and our son and working (I know thats a little bit sad really).

Gracie Da Silva

Event Co-ordinator

Bournemouth Office

I have been studying events management since 2013, and I’ve been working with Out of the Office since June. Newbie!! My favourite event is the Bakeathon because I am in love with food! I love cooking and trying new recipes on a weekly basis. I also love a project, anything from painting and sewing to building things, turning myself into the office handy man.

I love the events industry as it allows me to do a job that I am truely passionate about. I love being organised and I’m a slight perfectionist, so pulling off the perfect event is the best way satisfy those habits of mine. Not only that, but I love having fun and ensuring other people are having a good time too and that is what team building events are all about!
In my spare time I am training for a 10k run with Debs, Stu and Dan. I am a vegan and love cooking vegan food, I enjoy yoga, meditition and exploring the world.
