School Sports Day - Tonic Life Communications

At Warren House in Kingston, our group from Tonic Life Communications arrived with pigtails and freckles in abundance to enjoy a full day School Sports Day courtesy of Out Of The Office Ltd.

After making sure all were present (yes Sir!) each team’s prefect donned their school cap, tie, badge and bumbag of marbles and headed out in their houses to start the day.

Our teams ‘When does the bar open?’ and ‘G&T’ headed out first on their field trip. Challenges included blindfold tent making, crossing our tricky snake swamp and navigating through the spider’s web. Although G&T struggled with their tent making skills, they stormed back to reclaim their marbles in the snake swamp by piggy-backing team mate Pertreina both there and back meaning there really was all to play for in the spider’s web!

Meanwhile, our other two teams, ‘Geek Sheet’ and ‘Behind the bikesheds’ went back to class with tests in geography, science and maths (nothing too testing though hopefully!) Marbles were betted, lost and won; allegations of cheating and unfairness were made and quashed but the morning went by fast and all team were looking fairly even when it came to lunch time.

With lunch came the answer to ‘When does the bar open?’ as Warren House put out a great hot and cold buffet and refreshments for our teams to recuperate in the midday heat. Energy was needed too as the afternoon kicked off with head-to-head rounders; special mention going to our most talented pupil of the day, Ben Chaplin, who scored a whole 3 rounders for ‘Behind the bikesheds’! Whilst cheering/heckling their fellow opponents, there were also a selection of classic giant games for teams to try their luck at, which saw a couple of mean games of Jenga and Skittles played, as well as our School Tuck Shop to keep dipping into.

The afternoon then continued with the real competition starting, as all teams went against each other in our classic School Sports Day races. Challenges included bean bag on the head, 3 legged racing, egg & spoon and of course the sack race – resulting in a few comedy falls! The teams were well-matched for each other and it seemed the game still could be anybody’s!

The last section of the day then saw the ever-amusing ‘egg game’ take out several of the guests and a subsequent egging earning Stephanie Gardner her title of naughtiest pupil! This was followed by a mighty heave-ho tug of war finale. Special mention here to ‘When does the bar open’ for their awesome efforts against ‘Geek Sheet’ in the first stand off.

As the day came to a close, everyone was still in high spirits and all that was left to do was count up the marbles and declare our winners. Though the challenges had seemed closely fought throughout the day, a couple of large bets had swung it and we crowned our champions - the fantastic ‘Geek Sheet’ with a mighty 56 marbles!

Congratulations to all the teams for being such great sports all day and we hope to see you all again soon!
